Sri Lanka: Ties with Israel exposed
Sri Lankan Ambassador Donald Perera also expressed support for Israel against the Palestinians, comparing Hamas to the LTTE.
Referring to Israel’s attack on a Gaza-bound Turkish ship, he said: “As a military man I can understand that Israel had to protect itself. Due to Sri Lanka’s vast experience in fighting terror, I can say that it will always support countries that also oppose [terror].”………….. read more
Israel Supports Sri Lanka
Israeli Ambassador to Sri Lanka based in New Delhi, Mark Sofer has said the Israeli government has discussed the UN advisory report with President Mahinda Rajapaksa and has extended the country’s support to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka government sought the support of the Kingdom and other Muslim countries in the region yesterday to show their solidarity toward the island nation for its successful killing of more than 40,000 Hindus and Christian Tamil Civilians in May 2009 at at the current UN summit for human rights being held in Geneva.
“A time has come for friendly countries to help us against the wrongful propaganda targeting Sri Lanka, the only nation in the recent history, which successfully wiped out terror from the country.” he said
- He did not talk about the killing of more than 40,000 Tamil Civilians in May 2009 by the Government forces which do not accommodate even 1% of Muslims to its arms forces fearing they would turn against the government.
- He did not talk about the NOT implimenting the promised ”13+ political package” made by the so called ‘able leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa’ before the killing of the Tamil civilians in thousands in May 2009.
- He did NOT talk about the arms deal made between Israel and Sri Lanka.
- He did NOT talk about the Sri Lankan Governments support given to Israel against the Palestinians, comparing Hamas to the LTTE by the SL Ambassador to Israel.
The island’s senior Minister Rishath Bathiudeen told yesterday that the Sri Lankan government under the able leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa had always stood for the cause of Arabs and Muslims in the region. Continue reading →
